The last few days have seen an extraordinary set of circumstances and changes in the lives of Texans and Americans. We write this to notify you of our firm’s thoughts and actions in response to the current circumstances facing our communities, state, and nation.
For the safety of our employees, clients and others, we will be working from home for the most part. During this time, we will be checking emails and voicemails as often as possible. We will also be returning calls as soon as possible.
Although we remain available, able, and committed to advancing your case, courts all across Texas and the United States are taking various measures to limit the effect of this virus. Dawson & Sodd strives every day to advance the cause of its clients. But to do this, we must have opponents who respond and Courts that are open. We have been in contact with some Courts and opposing counsel regarding our pending cases and regarding how we can continue to advance cases during this time. At present, there are no hard and fast rules except that each case will be assessed on a case by case basis, and it appears that each court will make rulings applicable on a court-by-court basis. Federal Courts and the Texas Supreme Court have issued rulings ordering trial courts to take actions and issue orders to minimize the impacts of COVID-19 on parties, jurors, court staff, etc. As of today, we have received very few such orders from trial courts. We believe the courts themselves are struggling with what to do and how to proceed.
We will continue to update this page as we get more information. If you have a new case or an urgent matter, we encourage you to e-mail the firm at info@dawsonsodd.com.
Lastly, please follow advice of medical professionals and your state and national government concerning the virus. Our firm is trying to take steps to adhere to their guidance and instructions to help protect people from the impact of this virus. We hope you will do the same. Above all, take care of your families. If we can be of assistance, please let us know.
