Dawson & Sodd is proud to have been part of yet another victory for Texas landowners in the fight to prevent Texas Central from using eminent domain authority to take private property for its ill-advised and poorly planned high speed rail project.
Leon County Judge Deborah Evans declared this month that Texas Central is “not a railroad or interurban electric company” and therefore does not have eminent domain authority.
The ruling comes in a lawsuit filed by Leon County residents Jim and Barbara Miles to prevent Texas Central from surveying their property.
The high speed rail attorneys of Dawson & Sodd were part of the legal team fighting for the Miles’ property rights, along with Blake Beckham and The Beckham Group.
